Headdress Project - Emotion Personification

Autumn 2021

To kickstart my BA at Wimbledon, we were given a brief to make a headdress that was the personification of a chosen emotion. I went for joy. It felt obvious to go for vibrant colours and soft, round shapes. I primarily took inspiration from holidays, looking at colours from citrus fruits.

Whilst developing my aesthetic for this project, I came across vintage swimming caps that tie under the chin, some of them even made out of textile like crochet. That was my starting point for this cushioned, child-like headdress with stripes of yellow, orange and green.
